Yes, they're SCSI. The B revision Beige G3 supported
dual IDE devices on each controller port. So did
the C revision. Those ROM SIMMs or the motherboard
and ROM are much sought after by owners of the
A version Beige G3.

I just wonder why/how Apple didn't or couldn't
do their IDE support 100% correctly to start with?

I've heard that OSX supposedly can support dual IDE
devices per controller port on the A version Beige
G3 without changing the ROM. (And why didn't owners
of those get together and demand replacement ROMs
with full and proper IDE support?)
