Mark and All,

Well, this mystery has finally been solved at least on my iPhone. At some
point, probably with iOS 7, I had changed my text size to 36% of normal. I
still have some vision so used that slider switch in the display settings to
make the words larger than their default size. I've never quite figured out
why those slider switches in iOS give strange percentages which seem to be
multiples of 9 as opposed to multiples of 5 or 10 but it is what it is.

Today, when I reset my text size to normal with no percentage increase, the
confirm button to complete notification section clearance appeared after
tapping the first clear notification button. After experimenting, I
confirmed that it continued to appear as long as I set my fonts to 27% or
smaller. Now I can clear my notification sections.

I realized a long time ago when playing with Windows and font sizes and
magnification tweaking that you never knew what impact this might have on
how a screen was presented in a program. As they do more and more with the
screen settings on our iDevices, I guess these sort of hiccups are to be
expected.

Hello Alan,

The Clear All section buttons have always worked for me.

However, as I posted a while back, I have come across many iPhone fives and
sixes upon which they do not work.

A friend of mine, using an iPhone 5 S, who lost this functionality upon
upgrading his device from iOS 7 to 8, was able to regain the button
functionality by first backing up his phone to iTunes, then, setting it up
as a new device, then finally, restoring from the iTunes backup he'd just
made.

I relayed this technique to another friend of mine who experienced this same
issue on his new 6 and he, too, was able to get the buttons working by using
the technique described above.

As for me, the absolute first thing I did upon bringing my new 6 Plus home,
was to perform a Restore from my 5 S using iTunes.

Just as an F Y I, I was helping another friend update her 6 Plus to 8.2,
tonight and, upon successful completion of the update to 8.2, I attempted to
use the Clear All section buttons. They did not work. I asked her if she'd
ever performed a Restore from iTunes and she told me that she had not.

Mark,

I'm curious what you mean by the "Clear all section buttons in the
notification area continue to function normally." I don't know what you mean
by normal but the buttons to clear sectional notifications in this area
haven't worked for me since iOS 8 came out. If they're working for you, I'd
love to know what the trick is to get them to do so.

Hello Everyone,

Just updated my iPhone 6 Plus from 8.1.2 to 8.2 and noticed the following 3
things:

1.
Under Facetime, the auto call forwarding switch/feature was turned on.
After updating, when my phone rang, my Mac rang, as well. I found this very
annoying.

2.
I am happy to report that the Direct Touch Typing feature continues to
function normally.

3.
Also, the Clear All Section buttons, in the Notification area, continue to
function normally.
