Hi Jonathan, Hope you don't mind me responding here, rather than on your webpage.
I would like to extend the parameters of your final wish, pertaining to the pronunciation dictionary. I would like to see a toggle which would allow me to stop VO making smart choices re abbreviations. If "mon" is in the text, I do not want to hear "monday". "feat" should not become "featuring" etc. I write a lot in Italian, even when the keyboard is set to the Italian and VO is speaking in Italian, when I write "tue" I always hear "tuesday". There are dozens of these and they drive me mad!!!! I would like a toggle that will read what is on the screen, exactly as it is and not interpreted for me. Since IOS 9.3, every word that begins with "no" followed by just one letter, so, "not" "now" "nor" "non" and so on, is pronounced as "no" I think this is just more of the same. I have got so used to Daniel saying "number" instead of "no" when reading books that I find myself saying it too! Finally, although this can be amusing, those of us who are power users of these devices can become corrupted by them. This applies to PC screen-readers too! I hear other people speaking/pronouncing like Jaws or Daniel, in real life and, in my opinion, this could actually become a problem, especially for young ones relying upon the technology for their education. Thanks for starting this conversation! Slainte, Sandy. sent from the dark side of the moon > On 2 Jun 2016, at 23:15, Jonathan Mosen <jmo...@mosen.org> wrote: > > Hi everyone.
