I am not sure what happened on your phone, but for me the Messages app is as always except for that bug with the deleting. I just tap on Edit in the top right, then double tap the messag or messages I want to delete to select them and tap on Delete at the bottom. I’m sure they’ll fix this bug soon and this is not too difficult a work-around. If you have some major issue with Messages you may have to restore the phone which means reinstalling iOS 11. Just out of curiocity, what preparations did you do before updating?
