You are not being thick at all. If you navigate to the Your Profile tab. Towards the bottom of the screen you should have three items: About, Photos and Friends. Try working up vertically from the Your Profile Button. You should get to: What’s On your Mind Button. Keep going up and you should reach the PhotosTab, two of three. Swipe right to the Friends Tab. Double tap the Friends Tab. You should now have your list of friends.
