Does this new WayAround app operate similarly to Pen Friend? Can anybody tell me whether the information about any specific item is stored on the label or is that information stored on the iPhone.
I ask because I wonder if any iPhone with WayAround installed can be used to identify a so-labeled item. Or, as with the Pen Friend, would different iPhones possibly have different identifications for a given labeled item. I suppose that, with iPhones, the database could be shared via BlueTooth or WiFi. I know this is possible with the Glucose Companion Pro app where several iPhones can collect common data via iCloud.. For those unfamiliar with Pen Friend, it is a device that operates as follows: - the device itself looks like a pen that has been eating far too much ice cream - the ”pen" has a microphone and recording component - it also has a memory chip where a database of items is retained - as each label is used the code associated with that label is stored in the database - the accompanying recording (MP3) is linked to that label code - when identifying an appropriately labeled item, the label code is read and the associated MP3 is played Because of this design, different Pen Friends can have different identifying recordings for an item (or more accurately, label). ************ - Bill from Ino, Wisconsin - “The Early Bird may get the worm, but the Second Mouse gets the cheese!” - Contributor Unknown -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
