Ah I envy you I couldn't even get that far. By me it doesn't always even
display all the tones which are resident on the phone so I can't even delete
and the ones I can see which I can delete either just by hitting delete key
when in focus or by using the context menu choice do not leave. It, is, a,
mess!

I tried this with the latest version of iTunes and I was able to delete a
ringtone, but it would come back after a bit. When I deleted one and then
after I heard the tri tone I closed iTunes and disconnected the phone the
ringtone was gone on my phone as well. I haven't had time yet to see what
happens if I reconnect it.

GB. I had more. I re-saved them as m4r files and a number of them then

Yes they do but if you wish to then delete one you’re left with the
same conundrum as some element of the syncing process involving iTunes
is broken and you can’t just delete a tone from off the phone would

Yes sir I have and not that it’ll matter in the end but I have an open
ticket with them about it and the reason I got escalated to an open ticket
with them because I could prove that this isn’t just impacting custom
ringtones but also ones purchased from their own store as well. Sorry I
haven’t better news but at least there’s company in the misery. It drives
