David:

If you have the echo spot or show you can set up the two way communication with
your ring doorbell. It is faster than using the phone app, as the lag time to
open the app, find the right button and then talk takes so long most people
will give up and go away before you get things open and useable. The echo
device works right away as soon as you say your wake word, then say the phrase
‘talk to the front door, or whatever.

The doorbell will not have two way communication with the echo dot though. The
dot will alert you when someone is at the door, but you can not have two way
communication, unless you have an echo with a screen. The little spot is not
too expensive and is very small, so it fits easily on my desk.

The echo will also alert you when someone is at the door.

You would still have to use the phone app when you are away from home though.
