Hi Tara,

You do receive a receipt for any app that you purchase. However, it can take a 
few days for the receipt to be sent. I think the lag time is so that if you buy 
several apps over several days, Apple only has to charge your credit card once 
for all of them, which saves Apple money. I've never had to wait more than 4 or 
5 days for a receipt, though.

If you have to wait longer than that, check your spam folder; it's possible 
that receipts are being put there automatically by your email program without 
your realizing it.
