Mary, I have also noticed some weird behaviors with the HomePods… 1. If you have a sound bar connected directly to the Apple TV or your TV set and your HomePods connected with Airplay to the Apple TV there is a noticeable lag with the audio from the sound bar. I am beating my head over the desk trying to figure out how to fix the lag in the audio. Currently I have only my HomePods connected with Airplay and I am also using the ARC channel so that my TV, Playstation 5 and my wife's Nintendo Switch come through the HomePod speakers. I am actually pleased with the sound quality and I might not even reconnect the sound bar.
