Hi Cait. What I do, is to put my wright thumb on the lightning port down at the bottom of my phone, then slide my wright index finger up. If I stop a little way up my screen, I'll hear/feel tha first vibration to go to home. If I keep holding my finger on the screen, voice over will actually say lift for home. If I begin the gesture and keep sliding my finger up, I'll hear the second tone that means I'm at the app switcher. If I keep my finger down on the screen a few extra seconds, voice over will say lift for app switcher. Good luck.
