Yes, understood, but all I see when my phone is attached to the computer in
iTunes are things to buy.  I am running Jaws 12.  Where do I go to see the
phone?  Thanks for help in advance.  I am quite shaken about this, but if I
learn some about iTunes, maybe I will use it instead of just the charger.
Going to check Applevis right now.  In my hysterics, I just forgot they
existed.  However, any help is still deeply appreciated.

When Window-Eyes is running, iTunes detects it and apparently automatically
activates VO on an iPhone. Otherwise, you must activate VO on your iPhone
from within iTunes manually.
