Hi all, I have been trying different things to determine exactly what is causing the strange behavior I described before.
It turns out that I only see this strangeness when using the power cube that came with the new charger cord. If I use the cube from my original cord it behaves exactly as it should. I guess I'll be going back to the supplier and see if they'll replace/refund that part of my order. I hope this helps others. Thanks.
