That is the most ridiculous solution I've ever heard. It's like taking a walk without your cane or guide dog! Apple had better get their act together soon or I'll be thinking of a switch. Way to expensive a device to be playing games like this with those of us who have accessibility needs. I think they are telling us to "bite the dust". I have until the summer before I can do anything so we will see. I hope Steve comes to haunt them all big time because this would never happen with him in charge. What a terrible loss that was for us. I honestly haven't seen any big improvements in the IOS. Still have no caller ID and only half cooked notifications. And having the apps helter-skelter all over the place and not being able to organize them is really irritating. And Face Book is still behaving inconsistently too. I'll stop there. I really feel sorry for anyone who spent money recently on a new iPhone. At least mine worked well for more than a year until they shattered accessibility in iOS8 thus far. Sorry this is a gripe post but I'm very frustrated.

Yes. In order to move apps, one must find where they want the app to go,
remember that spot, turn off voice over, drag the app to the new location, then
turn voiceover back on.

I still can't move apps consistently. Anyone else noticed this?

I certainly want to fix these problems because it will lock when
Voice-over speaks, and Siri often doesn't finish what she's saying.

For those wondering, here are the accessibility fixes mentioned by AppleVis:
1. The screen now correctly scrolls to follow the movement of
VoiceOver focus. This has been a significant problem since the initial
release of iOS 8, and means that VoiceOver users no longer have to
resort to 3-finger swiping and locating by touch to do simple things
such as opening email attachments or making purchases from the Amazon
Mobile app.
  2. Siri now functions correctly when used with VoiceOver, and all
commands/responses appear to be spoken fully.
  3. VoiceOver now consistently announces when a new push notification
is received, even when the device is locked.
  4. VoiceOver now automatically reads the Caller ID for incoming phone calls.
  5. If your iPhone is muted, VoiceOver once again provides feedback
when you touch or swipe the screen when there is an incoming call.
  6. It appears as though some work has been done to prevent the screen
from auto-locking while VoiceOver is speaking.
  7. VoiceOver appears to perform better when navigating the "Details"
screen of message threads that contain attachments.

It looks like among other things, 8.1.1 should run better on the 4S
and the older iPads.

Subject says it, just use the usual precautions:

1. Sync and backup your phone either to iCloud or iTunes

2. Make sure all apps are updated

3. Remove all apps from the app switcher and at least reboot your phone by
turning it off and on again or do a Reset all Network settings which will
also reboot your phone.

Happy updating,

Sieghard
