Do you have any other servers (like a web, ftp, finger, etc.) running on
the server? Can you connect to those servers? My thinking is that even
though you can map network drives to it, it might not be running TCP/IP.
On the 98 machine, try Start | Run and type:
telnet 1.2.3.4 5900
Where 1.2.3.4 is the server's IP address. If this connection fails, the
problem is not in the VNC viewer, but in the network connectivity. If you
get a message like "RFB 003.003", then the problem is probably
password-related.
