My friend Brad Smith has announced that he is stepping down from the FEC to return to teaching. The Press Release is [1]here. While a loss for the country, it is certainly a gain for those of us who look forward to having Brad back as an academic colleague. Brad's tenure at the FEC exemplifies how one can hold a principled intellectual objection to certain laws, yet be rigorously fair-minded in applying those rules and upholding the rule of law with distinction and honor.
