* This is the VOP Radius mailing list * While we don't use a wholeseller we do use some remote pops and have always had problems with stop packets, even when the remote is directly connected to the same provider as our primary feed. We even experienced it some when we hosted the modems internally, meaning the packets were "lost" on our internal network. The problem was not resolved until we went to interim packets. I believe the problem is our 3Com modems as the issue get better and worse with different code revisions on the router card. As a result I have zero confidence in stop packets. I agree that it is in the best interest of the wholeseller to have problem such as this, but I certaily wouldn't accept it without reliable interim packets which we always seem to have. The downside of interim packets is I'm not sure the actual accounting is handled correctly, meaning I don't think Vircom ever inserts a stop record in the log even though it chooses to drop the call. As a result I know our hourly accounting isn't correct.
