That's not what happened to me two months ago.

I had a spyware infection, caught from banner ads from a service I was
using.  This was a new experience.   It took me a day to figure out how it
happened.  Fortunately someone told me "most people receive spyware
infections all the time; spybot and ad-aware are the usual freeware tools
for cleaning ms IE browser."  Without that clue I would have wasted hours
or days of time.

It's probably pretty safe to say such a thing to a non-techie, since they
won't know how to track down and upload spybot and ad-aware.  It's the
equivalent to revealing that Norton is a supplier of antivirus products.
