He often pissed off his friends, but I do not know any powerful people who were upset by him. Most of them are like Robert Park: amused, not upset. They would be upset if they believed him, but as far as I can tell none of them do. Also, the kinds of people we are dealing with, mainly academic researchers and government bureaucrats, do not go around murdering people. They are not violent. They use politics to marginalize and destroy enemies.
I do not think violence will ever be a problem for CF researchers. I am sure that places such as OPEC have many powerful, dangerous people, who would not hesitate to kill a dozen researchers. But I am confident they will ignore CF until it is much too late to do anything about it. I get the impression these people are pretty stupid. Or, I should say, they are only smart about how to do their job, which consist mainly of buying off elected officials and deceiving the public.
