Well, I'm Danish and you're Australian, so perhaps we don't put the same
meaning into the words :) More or less "old" = "not bought today" and
"obsolete" = "old and ought to be replaced with something newer" in my
vocabulary :-)

But your statement above only leads me to claim that the current AmigaOS
also is obsolete. A lot of people will agree with me, and it is also one
of the reasons why they are making a new AmigaOS 3.5.

That's naturally correct. But in my opinion one ought to try to solve a
problem before starting to complain - and in this case it means upgrading
ones equipment to something a bit more up-to-date. I don't find it fair
towards the developers that people bothers him with such. If they have an
actual request it is just fine. Requests has got to be valid, and a
request is not valid if there is no sense in implementing it or if the
request is impossible to fulfill due to the users too old equipment.

Well, it might be different in Australia. I don't think I know of anybody
in Denmark today using anything less than a Pentium whether it is companies
or private users.

But I agree with you. Why upgrade if you don't need it. I have an 486
because I have to run WordPerfect 5.1 and why should I upgrade it when I
don't use it for anything else. But if I some day need to run Word97
or whatever then I know that I will have to upgrade my hardware as well
as the software. Why do many Amiga users still expect present software
to be able to run on their old computers?

But is there that many companies left? Haven't most of them disappeared
long ago?

I think unless you make a superb application with no competition, like
Holger did with Miami, then I think it is very difficult to earn a living
programming for the Amiga. I have absolutely no idea what Olli earns
making Voyager, MD2, AmIRC etc. but I hope it is a lot - but it is
probably not enough because as far as I know he still has a fulltime job
(or he is using Windows at home and pretending to be at work).

In my opinion we are a few people that more or less bears the whole
Amiga market (okay, quite a few :-). People like me (and hopefully you)
that register all the shareware they use. So many people are using the
software in either a cracked version or a pirated version :(
