Yes, perhaps in some ways. I have to admit, that I don't know the inner
workings of AGA. When I in - if I remember correctly - September 1993 got
my A4000/030 it was the first AGA Amiga I got to play with. At that time
I had to admit I had been craving for a new Amiga, because my old A500's
OCS was nothing compared to the graphic cards my friends had in their
386's (or even 486's :-)

I have to admit, AGA disappointed me. With an 030 I found 32 colours to be
the most that you could use, unless you would have an remarkable speed
decrease. 256 colours was naturally out of the question for anything but
viewing pictures. When my friends saw my Amiga my bad excuse was, that I
didn't need to use more than 8 colours, because the Workbench was only in
four colours. And naturally making sure only to show them HAM8 pictures,
because HAM8 did indeed look better than 256 colours. I don't know how many
colours their Windows/OS/2 were in, but it was definitely more than I could
use reasonably on my Amiga.

The first is probably true. I don't know about the other. You shall
definitely appreciate what you have, but that certainly doesn't mean you
shouldn't look forward and make a sensible evaluation of what you have.

On this platform the developers unfortunately need to support AGA if they
just shall have a tiny chance of earning a bit from their work.
