Indeed  the  Host:   header  is  what  is required for this form of virtual
hosting to work, but that field didn't exists prior to HTTP/1.1

Having  said that, you are quite right, IBrowse, for example, doesn't support
1.1  (at  least  it  doesn't  send  1.1 requsts) but it _does_ send the Host:
field.  Curious...
