I had the same type of occurrence when I tried to go to ----
http://www.mailcity.lycos.com.
The first time the crash happened, I did a reflex action. I saw that
the system was going to reboot, so I decided that I would manually warm-
boot the machine, to give me a chance to remove a disk I had in one of
my floppy drives. That was a mistake. When the computer rebooted, it
could not validate the Bernoulli cartridge (230 megs) I had been using
for my Cache directory for V. Luckily I have a Zip 250 drive and a
spare Zip 250 cartridge, and luckily, even though the Bernoulli cartridge
could not be validated and, therefore, could not be written to nor dele-
ted from, I could still copy over all my files to the Zip cartridge.
Once I did this, I reformatted the Bernoulli cartridge and then copied
back all those files. I was ready to try things again.
The second time the crash happened, it happened with the same URL,
and the same type of crash occurred. This time, I did not touch my
Amiga. I just let it do everything by itself. It rebooted itself and
then validated the cartridge without my lifting a finger.
Even though I somewhat understand why the Amiga was able to reboot
and validate, all by itself, it does not explain why it should happen at
all when using V.3.2. If V is having difficulties dealing with
javascript, then we should be told what to expect and what work-arounds
we can do. I feel very frustrated with V. I got V for the main purpose
to have a browser for the Amiga which had the most current manner to
work with Web sites, like "spoofing" MS IE 5.0 and NetNav/Com 4.6, so I
can be accepted by those sites. Being Flash-Shockwave enabled is a big
plus. But, what good are any of these niceties if my system crashes
because V cannot handle javascript properly?
I know this is somewhat of a rant. Excuse this, please. I feel
frustrated and I would like some sane answers and/or solutions. I will
only download and install V.3.2.12 if I am assured that I will be ac-
cepted when I try to log into http://www.onebox.com, and that there will
not be that crash when I try to go to http://www.mailcity.lycos.com.
Thanks for hearing me out.
Julian.
