Fully compatible. The Amiga has a completely transparent system for handling
this.

This is FFS specific - FFS isn't too clever...

But /do/ enable International. It doesn't cause any problems or slow-down
etc, just you get properly sorted non-English characters.

JA> What are the caveats for SmartFileSystem and PFS? I ask this because I

You need to backup/install/format/restore, and programs such as DiskSalv and
ReOrg don't work on them (but then, they don't work over 4GB anyway!). The
idea of PFS and SFS is that you don't need Disksalv or ReOrg anymore...

PFS-3 includes a repair program AFAIK, but I've never had problems with SFS or
PFS-2 when I tried it.

JA> How do the other filesystems work with this situation?

SFS or PFS will handle this safely, without the need to even revalidate.
