I think you are just unlucky.
It crashes a lot here if I enable JavaScript, but seldom otherwise.
However, it is not taking out the drive.
For that to happen, something has to be writing a file at the moment of
crashing. Could be V's cache, could be something like YAM running in the
background. You don't have any scripts running that regularly write to
disk, do you?
