No, it's there so that you don't have to connect to other computers. The
main use is for the times when you view a page full of graphics, follow
a link, and then want to go back to the first page. If that page is all
in the cache it saves you a minute or two of waiting for downloads.

Accessing any information across a network will be slower than if it is
stored locally. As hard drives get bigger, it makes more and more sense
to just use the network to check for updates. For instance, in a year or
two you will be able to store the whole of Aminet on a hard drive for
about the cost of one DVD.

You seem to be suggesting that a web site can read the contents of your
cache. Are you sure? (Cookies are a different thing).
