I should coco.

Ah, now that is one of the problems I don't have, but people do continually
complain about it. But storage space is not really a consideration, Hotmail
and many other webmail providers assume that you're going to remove the
mails from the servers anyway.

They aren't really attuned to having you being sent megabyte attachments
from friends.

I positively love the way it's integrated with MSN Messenger, I like the
"Passport" system (in essence, a clever shared cookies system based on
the fact that all these systems use servers on the hotmail.com domain,
but that didn't stop Amazon from patenting similar systems) and the
oodles of configurability.

I consider the way it handles it's configuration options very user friendly,
the fact that it actually changed the State and Zip fields to Post Code when
I changed the Country field, I thought was impressively considerate.

Whatever happens, Microsoft may own Hotmail, but it seems to be designed
by someone who gives a toss about what users want out of webmail, and
it certainly doesn't run off any Microsoft servers (FreeBSD and Solaris
last time I checked) so it's remarkably stable and supposedly secure..

To save list bandwidth from a second mail:

WRT "opinions", accusing a company of being anti-competitive is enough
to land them in court just in case. An opinion doesn't get you sent to prison
or landed with a fine. (Unless, that is, it's the opinion that all [pick a race
or religion] must die, and that you and your machine gun are [pick a deity]'s
way of making that happen). Simply put: it does not pay to run around
shouting at the top of your voice that everything that Microsoft does is
anti-competitive, when in fact the things they got fingered for by US
courts are a tiny subset of their operations. Do you see?

If you think Microsoft is anti-competitive with Hotmail, what the hell do
you think Netscape/AOL is doing with http://my.netscape.com ?

Off-topic, anyway. This ends now :)

Thanks
