I know, I just wanted to point out that it will work. As long as you don't use two or 
more different
macines, its's no problem that e.g. your trashcan is locally on you machine, and not 
on the mail-server.
For a dialup-connection it is anyway a good idea to have it like that, because you 
wont have to be
connected all the time. IMAP servers are most often meant to be used in LAN's where 
you are always
connected to the server.
