Hi Susan,
Thanks for the quick response. My daughter has a Nikon D80 so I might
have a go with that and see what happens. Thanks for your help.

Donna

Hi Donna, I actually haven't used it for live view specifically that
I can remember with a Canon. I have the software, and checked
without a camera attached, there didn't seem to be the capacity for
live view. So I expect the sales person was right.
The only one I have experience with is the Nikon cameras. I have a
Nikon D80 (which I plan to sell), D300 and D90, all of which work
with Camera Control Pro 2 - the Nikon software for this purpose.
Digilife sell Nikon and Canon cameras, they might be good people to
consult with when buying a camera.
cheers, Susan.

Thank you Susan,
I contacted Rob Findlay's office and Peter there was very helpful
suggesting the correct cameras also. I had almost purchased a
camera last week but the retailer told me that Live View on the
Canon only meant there was a live view screen on the camera but it
would not be live on the computer if connected, only immediately
transferred after the shot was taken. Susan you mentioned that
you have used the Canon for live view purposes, can you please
just clarify that one point for me- are you able to view what you
are going to shoot live on the Apple computer before taking the
actual photo, as I was able to do on my old PC? Thank you both for
your help.
Best Regards,
Donna

Hi Donna, it will depend on your camera. Canon include software
with their cameras which works on the Mac for this purpose. With
Nikon, there is a computer program you can buy. (Camera Control
Pro) These are the two solutions I've tried so far, I'm not sure
if there are any others. Neither Aperture nor iphoto were intended
for this purpose.
If you let us know which camera you are using it may help.
cheers, Susan.

Hi all,
I am new to the Apple and love my Imac. However I do have one
problem. I have been managing my website for many years now,
taking my photos previously using Live View FlyVideo. This
enabled me to connect my camera to the computer with a cord
similar to connecting to a camera to a TV, where I could adjust
the focus etc on my camera whilst viewing on the big screen of
the computer, before I take the perfect photo. I bought the
Aperture programme in the hopes that it would enable me to do
this type of live view on my computer screen. Unfortunately I
have not managed to find a way to achieve this goal. Does anyone
have any knowledge or experience with regard to this live view
screening on the computer? I would appreciate any help. Thanks
in advance.
Regards,
Donna
