Peter
Thank you for this information. I will follow through as suggested.
No need to apologise regarding response time - you are working and must consider your clients first. As I said below, I realise that just because we post a concern does not mean someone must reply.
Thank you for being such a tremendous supporter of the List.

Thanks Peter. But how do I install the driver without creating conflicts
with the TX600FW already on the hard drive?
Merv

You can install as many drivers for as many printers as you like without
causing conflicts. My laptop has close to 20 listed, by virtue of a range of
different printers located at various clients. Mac OS X already has hundreds
installed by default.

I sent the above question at 9.25 am.
The above statement is not a criticism just a way of saying this is a more
recent comment. I realise that a request to the list does not put anyone under
an obligation to reply and nor would we want that.

Sorry about that. I had to leave to go to a client. I pretty much hit the Send
button and left soon after.

Since then I have taken the plunge and downloaded the driver. At the install
stage I used a Custom Install and selected the 1260 driver. After connecting to
the 1260 and a restart and a search of my applications folder I could find no
trace of the the 1260. Not despairing I clickrd on the Epson Scan icon and
immediately the TX600FW responded. I looked in the Epson Scan menus but could
find no way of choosing the 1260. Like-wise in System Preferences.

You won't find any reference to printer drivers in the Applications folder. You must go to
the Print& Fax System Preference and, with the printer either directly attached (if USB)
or connected by network cable, add the printer to your list of drivers by clicking the
"+" button in the lower eft of the window. Mac OS X should automatically pick up
both the printer and the correct driver.

Try using Image Capture to see if the 1260 is listed under its Devices list.

I can no longer comment on the default drivers that came with 10.4.11, but Snow
Leopard lists both the 1260 and the TX600FW as being supplied by default

Maybe I am trying the impossoible.

No, this is all entirely possible. We do start to reach limits in what we can
do purely by email, though.
