Thanks Peter,
I also found another way. Cut and paste from source. Drop into the
field, then repeat the drop. First time pass is original font,
second time is the font as set up in FM.

Peter,
I have set up a database with 7 fields. Those fields correspond
to elements in PDFs I have (conference papers: authors, abstracts
etc). I drag and drop from PDF segment to field (Not Cut and
Paste). I then see my data appear in FM. I use Adobe because the
text in the fields is in the font I set up, not the PDF's fonts
( variable). If I use Preview I get what was in the PDF. The
FM database when built gets used ultimately on a website.
I know the problem you're talking about, and it's not restricted to
PDFs. It also often happens to me when I drag and drop from a web
page. The fix is to press Cmd-Z immediately after the drop, while
the cursor is still in the field. The text will change to the
default font of the field.
