I have some reservations about the proposed name change. Efficient marketing can sell any name, and history IS important.
Aside from the necessity of carefully considering of the points raised by Ronni, Merv and others, and assuming WAMUG must be replaced, I think Shayne's suggestion of WA Apple Users (WAAU) affords a superior acronym to the Committee's proposed name. The acronym is what is used the most, and this one lends itself to easier pronunciation.
