My wife and I have both been on Catalina since about 2 weeks after release. I find it very stable and have no issues at all.
But I made sure for some time prior that I gradually upgraded any 32 bit Apps to 64 bit. Or I replaced them with something else. So when we moved to Catalina it went quite smoothly. PS: I downloaded a genuine MS Office 2016 (with license) foe $110.00.
