yes, in web2py_ajax.js and web2py_ajax.html there are changes (most notably invalidating the "delete" functionality) needed to have smartgrid fully work.
So if anyone is coming from an application "initialized" with an old release, adding smartgrid will require at least the declaration of the var w2p_ajax_confirm_message ..... I fully suggest also to add the relevant part from base.css to display a nicer grid.
