Hi Chuck
I am so very sorry to hear that.

we all have our crosse to bare, but this one is heavy.

I did that. Once. Luckily the .com crash came and put that client out of my misery. :-)

That does sounds like an adaptor problem, possibly with communicating with wotaskd.

Have you tried to turn on adaptor logging? Windows.... Hmmmm... I think you create a text file named logWebObjects in C:\Temp and, later, look for WebObjects.log in that directory. That should provide some clue as to what specifically is happening.

ok, i turned on the adaptor logging, i swear i was looking for those docs below for like an hour without finding. the adaptor log pretty much just says that the errors occur, but i can't fathom why. the strange thing is, it is adding new instances all the time, like so: every few seconds, is this normal? shouldn't it just cache this or something?

Info: CGI: config url is http://localhost:1085/
Debug: init_adaptor(): beginning initialization. Adaptor version 4.5.1.
Info: init_adaptor(): config options are: String table:
config = http://localhost:1085/
Info: Adaptor shared state file: C:/TEMP//WOAdaptorState

Ooooh. WOAdaptorState. I remember that. Perhaps this is of some help (also Google for WOAdaptorState) http://www.wodeveloper.com/omniLists/webobjects-dev/2003/February/ msg00325.html

The rest of that was of no use. You need to capture the part where it fails.

See Logging and Analyzing Adaptor Activity here:

ok, my bedtime reading tonight.

Should put you to sleep quickly.

wotaskd it sounds like. You could try giving it more memory. I have seen problems with OS X where all the ports/file handles are occupied and that makes wotaskd choke. Windows may have a similar problem.

is there any windows guru out there that can tell me how i can add more memory to the wotaskd running as a service?

Probably not the problem. but edit wotaskd.woa/Contents/Windows/ CLSSPATH.TXT
Change JVMOptions

# JVMOptions       == -Xmx128m -DWOAllowRapidTurnaround=false

I'd rather not uninstall Apache, is there a way to get the Apache Plugin to run on Windows?

I thought someone had done this long ago.

you don't recall a name do you?

No. I thought it might have been us, but it does not look like it.

thx for your help, i feel like it's getting under control

Much fun to be had here!
