There used to be a practive where you directly post to the mailing list 
with:

[ please CC me on the replies as I'm not subscribed to the list ]

in the subject. It works for me for ages and I don't need to login to a 
website and use browser forms for email in case I need to ping someone 
(as for example with this thread being on website-discuss where I'm not 
subscribed)...

I have no problem allowing users to post to a maliling list from a web. 
But by using a stable and maintained software, not a half-baked solution 
that does not do what it should and that none wants to maintain and 
enhance and fix.

To me this is not good craftsmanship but rather trying to be "everything 
for everybody" which never worked in the past and will probably never 
work in the future...
