One of the (non opensolaris) open source projects I work on hosts its
website out of its cvs repository, and simply has its "metacomunity
main page" set up to redirect to the project's html stuff.  In a
similar manner, the ARC caselog is now hosted elsewhere, and the arc
community page simply links there.  There is no reason that something
like this couldn't work well for you - think of it as a safety valve -
you can work within xwiki, or do a hybrid with xwiki and attachments,
or go completely outside of xwiki and roll your own.

I know of very few wiki sites that let you upload your own pure html -
those that "do" html only do subsets, and even then, (imho), poorly.

I do wish OS.o had gone down the path of setting up mediawiki (ala
genunix) as a generic wiki in addition to the integrated work they are
doing with xwiki and the uber-meta site app stuff, but that is neither
here nor there...
