A German restaurant is selling pizzas with a topping
that includes 22-carat gold. The Petit Delice restaurant
in Hamburg, Germany, charges �20 for a small slice
of the pizza. Chef Ernst-Wilhelm Klevinghaus says it also
features creme fraiche and pate and is "pizza fit for a king".
He added: "Some people are worried that the gold will
make you ill but it is perfectly harmless and doesn't taste
of anything."
A pair of avant garde artists from Argentina have recorded
a CD of the "sounds" of famous people's tombs. Moncho
Conlazo and Alan Courtis recorded sounds from the resting
places of Jim Morrison, Maria Callas, John Patitucci and
Jorge Luis Borges. They took recording equipment to
cemeteries in Paris and Geneva for the project. Now the
pair, who call themselves Reynols, are to sample and
process the sounds into a new noise. "For us, it's a kind
of deep homage not any sacrilege thing," they said.
Previous albums by Reynols include a symphony
performed by 10,000 chickens in Germany and some
completely blank tape recordings made in Holland.
A new craze for sporting Saddam Hussein's hairstyle
has been reported by barbers in northern India. Youngsters
in Jalandhar, a city with a fashion-conscious reputation,
are asking hairdressers to make their moustaches and
hair like that of the Iraqi dictator. Varinder Aujla, editor of
the local Mission newspaper, says he was offered a Saddam-
style moustache when he visited the barber. He said: "My
barber claimed that six boys had insisted on having that
moustache." The journalist added that the barber had
watched television programmes and had collected
newspaper photographs of Saddam to achieve perfection.
