Two chimpanzees have been 'married' at a zoo in Brazil
to encourage them to start a family. The 'couple' wore
wedding gowns and even had a wedding cake, Terra
Noticias Populares reports. The party was enjoyed by
zoo visitors and children were given little wedding gifts.
A spokesman for the Rio de Janeiro Zoo said: "Those
two were flirting outrageously over the fences for four
months and we decided to give them a chance. The
male, Pipo, has been single for 10 years and it's time
for him to give up his bachelor life and give us little
chimps. We hope the whole wedding party atmosphere
helps them to breed."
A news website in Bosnia is running a competition to
find the best car crash photograph. Residents in Mostar
are being urged to keep cameras in their cars and take
pictures of every crash they see. The www.bljesak.info
website says the person who sends in the picture of
the 'best' accident will win a car. Website managers say
the idea for the competition came after reports of unusual
crashes in the city, including one where a car hit the front
of a coffee-shop. No one was injured in the accident.
A police raid ended a German nightclub's bid to get into
the record books for playing non-stop music. DJs at
Berlin's Sky Club were only 10 hours short of the record
when officers burst into the club. The club had been open
for three days and was confident of making the Guinness
Book of Records. About 300 police officers entered the
premises and guarded the toilets so nobody could flush
any drugs down them. DJ M-Schneider, 23, complained
to theBerliner Zeitung: "They were totally aggressive. They
ripped the cables right out of my loudspeakers." A police
spokesman said the raid had been prepared for a year.
