A Japanese woman in her 60s had her pacemaker
settings changed by a rice cooker. The change was
discovered during a regular check-up, but luckily it
did not affect her heart condition says the Mainichi
Daily News. Officials of the pacemaker's manufacturer
inspected the woman's home, and found that her rice
cooker was causing the problem. The Japanese
Health Ministry has issued a warning to people with
pace makers to stay away from rice cookers with
induction heating systems while they are switched on.
A German website is giving the country's prisons star
ratings just like a hotel guide. Inmates, staff and visitors
rate the prisons based on a system of up to five stars.
Almost all 220 German prisons are listed. One of the
most popular is Hamburg prison, nicknamed Santa Fu.
One inmate wrote: "Very good food, very nice cells, nice
officers, a decent daily rhythm. I keep coming back." A
member of staff there added: "The only thing missing
is 24-hour room service. Sometimes I think I should
change sides."
An Italian woman has been arrested for allegedly
vandalising 60 Alfa Romeo cars because they
reminded her of her ex-lover. The 28-year-old
woman told officers she damaged the cars because
her former boyfriend drives the same make and model.
She is accused of going on a two month wrecking
spree, armed with a pair of scissors and scratching
the bodywork and slashing the tyres of the cars.
Officers arrested the woman after setting up surveillance
on Alfa Romeos parked in the town of Rovereto, in
northern Italy. Police say she claimed she did it because
the cars reminded her of her former boyfriend, and
it was her way of getting even with him.
