Follow-up Comment #6, bug #15880 (project wesnoth):

What you said about the msgfmt not replacing the file could make sense ("That
must be!", I though), but I've just tried compiling and then moving the file
and still nothing.

The point is that the game reads the .mo file for sure, since old .mo file
has a different campaign name, and a fuzzy description (it was in English
before because of that).

I'm now compiling wesnoth 1.8 in a normal directory, and executing it for the
first time with the latest -.mo file.

If you are on a x86_64 system (I guess .mo are different according to
machine's arch), could you upload a working .mo file?

Anyway, if nothing of this works, I guess this bug could be closed, and I'll
take care of reopening it if I still can't see the string translated with the
original 1.8.1 files.
