What I want: Get an alert when a specific trap comes in.
------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------- What I have: Test device with a trap generator installed, sending test traps every 2 minutes. WUP monitoring station with enabled SNMP trap handler, receiving SNMP traps (seen in the log file of WUP). I edited the mib.txt and the trap.txt by hand, added the lines: Trap.txt: testtrap,qmail,100,1000 Mib.txt: qmail,1.3.6.1.7.9999 restarted WUP. No alerts. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------- My questions: Can somebody explain me the minor and major type codes? I read the KB article WG-20020305-DM01 but I still don't understand it. When does the notification alert me? In the second when the trap comes in or when the device is polled? Is it right that I type "testtrap" in the "On SNMP trap" field in the "Edit Notification" menu?
