2 P4Xeon 1.4Ghz, 1GB RAM, 3x36GB Raid 5, 2 1000B-T in Fail over in two separate core switches, on Windows 2000 Server: Dell PowerEdge 1650 works very well.
I poll over 1800 devices with multiple SNMP/service interface queries. Averages out to about 4000 snmp/service queries per minute. I also run Crystal reports on it to deliver real time WUG reports.
