I, too, think that the scope of Wikidata is at least provide support for things that could be on Wikipedia. Perhaps the current scope of Wikidata then should not be "every demo tape ever produced", but it seems to me that "every generally available recording" (perhaps something like every recording in MusicBrainz) is in scope right now.
