I have no problem with a top post as long as the people that use top post
don't try to respond line by line of quoted unquoted quoted unquoted etc
etc without something to differentiate which is which. I just believe that
we out to live within the boundaries of the email client that we adopt.

I think this is one of those personal preference things.
I much prefer the current message at the TOP with any necessary history
below it. Very often if someone posts the other way and hasn't trimmed his
quote judiciously, instead of clicking the scroll button to get past the
quoted material, I just click the delete button instead. Unless it is a
subject I am REALLY interested in, I usually won't spend my time hunting for
what the current poster is trying to tell me.
As is taught in many business courses regarding written communications, tell
me up front and very succinctly WTH you are talking about. My attention span
is short, my tolerance level low, my time is limited, and my delete key is
FAST. If you want me to read your deathless prose, lay it on me up front!
JMO, of course, but that is the one I usually pay the most attention to,
warranted or not. ;)

Outlook also behaves in a similar manner & as to why I don't believe anyone
knows. Apparently MSFT feels that top posting is the best even tho it
messes up quoting of the original & placement of a signature. Such
questions have been asked of MSFT many times & I don't think anyone has
gotten an answer that satisfies them.
Because of this & not being able to do selective quoting when replying are
the reasons why I can't bring myself to use anything MSFT for email even
tho I've tried many times I just can't get use to their way of doing things
in this situation.
