I got into a spat with DirecTv & am taking my business elsewhere as a
result. I don't care for the offshore supt since English is not their
1st language & they gouge the heck out of you for every little thing.
Last year I was able to purchase HD programming & NFL Sunday ticket
to be able to watch the games in HD but that is NOT good enough now
as they want an add'l $99 for HD just for football & they upped the
price of NFL Sunday Ticket. When I tried to drop NFL Sunday Ticket
they said I could not to which I replied that they just shot
themselves in the foot as I'm cancelling DirecTv entirely. They think
they have you over a barrel but hey my NE Patriots have won 3 of the
last 4 SBs so I could care less now. It was one thing when I was
hoping & praying they would win but now that they have so it ain't no
big thing besides the playoffs are always nationally televised then
there are new television contracts that go into effect next year that
I'm sure will screw things up even more.
I will be dropping [EMAIL PROTECTED] & adding back
[EMAIL PROTECTED] but there will be an overlap any way. I'll be
keeping this addy of [EMAIL PROTECTED]
How's this for a deal? 5m/.5m u/d for only $19.95/mo for 3 mo then it
goes to $39.95/mo but that's not all. On the TV side we're getting HD
everything including locals & a PVR. They're giving us free basic
cable for 6mo for what they call a dish buy back which means a
savings of $250 so for the 1st 3 mo the total internet/tv bill will
be $36.89 then for months 4 to 6 it'll be only $56.89 then after 6mo
it'll be $99/mo. I'll of course shall be dropping DSL. DirecTv [w/o
NFL Sunday Ticket] + DSL was costing us $96/mo anyway so now we'll
have more HD channels without the atmospheric problems, an HD PVR & a
faster Internet connection from [1.5m to 5m] for only $3 more per
month & no off shore support. Temporarily I'll have 6.5m down as my
DSL contract will not be up til Oct.18th. :-( The HD PVR does not
cost anything to purchase & is only $1/mo while with DirecTv the
receiver with HD DVR just dropped from $1000 to $500 plus one has to
pay an extra $5.99/mo for an extra receiver plus this does NOT get
one any more HD channels. DirecTv can take a flying leap as far as
I'm concerned. </rant>
I'm sure I'll miss NFL Sunday Ticket some as I'll also miss the
Verizon NNTP server as it is a better setup & retention than our
local cable company has but with the added HD channels, HD PVR &
faster internet speeds I'll manage somehow. ;-)
Go Red Sox........
