I would try something like:

1. Move as much data as possible from smaller partition to larger partition.
2. Resize smaller partition to as small as it can be.
3. Slide one partition to make free space from step (2) adjacent to the
upper end of the larger partition.
4. Resize larger partition to use free space made available.
5. Repeat from step 1 until smaller partition is eliminated.

This will not be fast and will work better if the smaller partition is the
2nd partition.

It may be easier to remove the drive from the external case and plug it into
the computer as an internal drive, so that you can use the PM8 merge
feature.

Subject: How to merge partitions?

I have a 300mb maxtor external USB 2 drive. It has been partitioned
into two drives, and I want to merge them. I tried partition magic 8
and spoke with Symantec, and there program does not work on USB
drives. Is there anyway to do it without losing data, and if not
what is the best way to do it. It is NTFS formatted.
Thanks
