If weight and heft are a consideration, the Compaq would be
easier for a young lady to handle. I have a slightly less
capable Compaq Presario, and I like it quite well.
You may want to go to your nearest Circuit City or
Best Buy and try out the keyboard, look at the screen, etc.
I have no experience with Toshiba laptops.
