I've had a similar problem with redhat 6.2 (using the kernel source
2.2.16). Oddly enough, the exact same configuration works just fine after
being compiled on my home machine. (586 vs 686). Weird. I've had similar
things happen even without the win4lin patch, though.
VMWare does support scsi now, I think. 2.x series.
