I agree...the economy sucks, use it to your advantage. Tell your vendor you're having a hard time paying the current rate and that you need to get the price lowered or you may have to look at closing your doors. You'll be amazed at how many will change their tune regarding contract terms.
Another thing to try is that if you can get a lower price you'll reup on the contract for another 3 years...or whatever your current contract period was.
